headliner - dan sultan
Known as one of Australia’s most recognised and prolific songwriters, music lovers have found a home in his ability to bare his longings and wounds. His new LP Killer debuted at #5 on the ARIA Chart and was released to widespread critical acclaim, including 3 nominations at the 2017 ARIA Awards. Media and fans alike are hailing it as Dan’s Sultan’s most ambitious and accomplished work to date. With a voice that is simultaneously sweet and rough, this front man knows how to turn on a crowd, and the Mokoan Music Festival will welcome him and a 6-piece band enroute to Byron Bay for Bluesfest.
Honed in the musical melting pot of Melbourne’s thriving music scene, Josh Owen draws on a wide variety of influences from his own musical journey. The urban soundscapes of soul and reggae are where he truly feels at home. Josh Owen has seen his first three independent releases, a live band album and a solo acoustic mini album receive massive critical acclaim and airplay Australia-wide. ‘Save Me Save Me’ was voted number 1 on Triple J’s Unearthed Roots chart. 2016-2017 has seen Josh on the road with James Reyne, as guitarist and backing vocalist in the band, and as an acoustic duo. In between tours he has backed Pete Murray, Tina Arena, Dannii Minogue, Casey Donovan and Nathalie Imbruglia. Josh has also been the touring guitarist with many legendary Australian artists including Richard Clapton, Ross Wilson, Normie Rowe, Joe Camillerri and Russell Morris.
